Alex’s passion started at a very young age at his parents restaurant.
While studying hospitality in his native Alsace he was gaining experience during his days off school at L’Hostellerie La Cheneaudière Michelin Star Relais & Châteaux in France and as well at the Hotel Dollenberg 2 Michelin Stars Relais & Châteaux in Germany. Willing to learn to speak English and gain new experiences in a different country he decided to move to England after finishing his 4 years studying in Strasbourg.
Starting his new challenge in November 2007 as a commis de rang at the Bath Priory, having in mind to move to Spain or Italy after one year to learn another language, he moved his way onto the restaurant floor after 6 months.
After having spent two years in the restaurant enjoying the hard work and fun with the team enormously, Alex had numerous offers to improve his skills in the restaurant team and abroad which he declined with no regrets, his goal was to be a sommelier and the opportunity was given by the Bath Priory Management Team in 2009 where they put him through sommelier exams (WSET and Master Sommelier Court), extremely pleased to stay in Bath and continue to work for the company, he was ready to start his next challenge as a commis sommelier.
The following year Alex was promoted to assistant sommelier and in September 2012 to Head sommelier. “It is not the chance you have but the choice you make that determines your destiny.”
