Charities We Support
Support within the Community
At The Bath Priory we believe in the importance of supporting those people within our community and industry that have found themselves in difficult times. After much consideration, the hotel has chosen to focus our efforts on working with three very valuable causes, chosen either for their link to the industry in which we work, or for being something in the local area that the hotel feels particularly strongly towards. The hotel is proud to be involved with these organizations that are doing such good work within the local and wider communities.
Hospitality Action www.hospitalityaction.org.uk

Hospitality Action was originally founded as the ‘London Coffee House Keepers Association’ for the purpose of “relieving aged and decayed members of the trade, their widows and orphans” who “from reverses of fortune (to which we are all liable) might be reduced from a state of comparative prosperity to the alternative of dragging out a miserable existence within the walls of a workhouse”. General Manager of The Bath Priory, Sue Williams, is a member of Hospitality Action’s southwest committee and has been striving to spread the knowledge of the good work that the organization does. The hotel has most recently supported the charity by fundraising for ‘Hospitality Action Week’ when the teams got together for the “The Bath Priory Cycle Challenge” (see below).
Children’s Hospice Southwest www.chsw.org.uk

CHSW provide hospice care to life-limited children and their families from across the South West, and are the only organisation in this area to provide such care. Some families may use the hospice for many years, from the time the child is first diagnosed as having an incurable condition which will mean they will die in childhood. They may come for planned short breaks, emergency care or end of life care, and will usually be accompanied by family members. The whole family can stay at our hospices, and with a dedicated sibling support service available, this means that the well brothers and sisters can be cared for during their visit and enjoy spending time with other children in similar situations to their own.
Action Against Hunger www.actionagainsthunger.org

Action Against Hunger | ACF International is a global humanitarian organization committed to ending world hunger. Recognised as a leader in the fight against malnutrition, ACF works to save the lives of malnourished children while providing communities with access to safe water and sustainable solutions to hunger. With 30 years of expertise in emergency situations of conflict, natural disaster, and chronic food insecurity, ACF runs life-saving programs in over 40 countries benefitting some five million people each year. Every October The Bath Priory supports the “Fight Hunger Eat Out” campaign by adding an optional donation to each person’s restaurant bill, something which our guests are also very happy to support.
Other Support
Organised by Head Gardener Jane Moore, The Bath Priory also supports the National Garden Scheme (www.ngs.org.uk) by holding two open days each year and collecting a small entrance fee which is given back to the charity. Dorothy House Hospice (www.dorothyhouse.co.uk) is also supported during the garden open days, as the hotel donates the proceeds from the refreshments sold. These are ongoing relationships that the hotel looks forward to continuing.

Bath Priory Cycle Challenge for Hospitality Action Week (17th to 23rd May 2010)
We have three teams of eight people and each team will attempt to cycle 328 miles, which is the distance from The Bath Priory Hotel, to sister hotel Gidleigh Park in Devon, finishing at Sydney House Hotel in London. Each person will cycle an equal amount of 41 miles per person across the 7 days. We have set this as a race, so the first team to finish wins! Our Spa members will be invited to pay £1 per entry to guess which team they think will win and as well as sponsorship from the cycle event, we will be adding £1 per cover to the restaurant menus, which will go directly towards our total. We are hoping to raise £1,000 overall.

If you would like to make a donation to one of our charities, please see a member of staff.
